Centre for Applied Social Research and Action

Mental Attitude The Centre for Applied Social Research and Action (CASRA) is a research institute affiliated to Rhodes University and based in the Psychology Department at Rhodes University.

It aims to build bridges between the academic community and other organizations (such as business, NGO's and government departments), through the provision of appropriate and useful research, primarily Action Research.

While CASRA's primary modality of research is Action Research, the organization is capable of offering a wide range of research projects, from organizational development to monitoring & evaluation, to participatory research. We specialise in both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, including interviewing, focus groups, and survey research.

CASRA also offers certificate courses in partnership with Rhodes University. Participants completing one of our certificate courses will receive an official Rhodes University certificate positioned at the appropriate NQF level.

We must find a way of bridging the traditional divide between educational theory and professional practice.
